Our Philosophy

"Responsibility does not only lie with the leaders of our countries or with those who have been appointed or elected to do a particular job. It lies with each of us individually. Peace, for example, starts within each one of us. When we have inner peace, we can be at peace with those around us."

The Nobel Lecture, December 11, 1989

The Shades Network is a sub-division of The Shades Foundation, a New York based non-profit agency dedicated towards the enrichment of community social interpersonal relationships. The philosophy of The Shades Foundation is economic, political, education and militaristic empowerment should only be in support of a community achievement and not a community’s primary goal.

It is the belief of the Shades Foundation that once a community collectively establishes a uniformly accepted system of ethics, values and morals the other principles of communal support (economics, political and education) will take their rightful place.

A community must concrete the dynamics of its interpersonal relationships between men, women as its root. Without this construct, a community will only thrive in a circular path of false cosmetic success. Initiatives shaped on the aspect of child and teen education only falls short when that child or teen becomes re-educated when they return home through observance, formal and informal re-education. The pivotal catalyst lies in the solidarity of the adult population. The saying “Home is where the heart is “rings true, because the heart of the community begins at home.

"We were born to unite with our fellow men, and to join in community with the human race."

Cicero

The Shades Network pools together the resources and expertise of community non-profit agencies, churches and schools to further improve the dynamics of our interpersonal interactions between male and female. Recipients who receive web space and join our network are obliged to have their representative attend a monthly consortium meeting to discuss future community projects and initiatives as well as exchange views and ideologies.

We do not ask any Shades Network member to do anything more than they have already pronounced their selves committed to when their organization took up the responsibility of becoming a non-profit – to act as a public resource dedicated towards community improvement.
